Hand-Stained Pictorial Glass Window at Regent University
|
|
In 2013, Regent University completed their new 900-seat chapel. Laws Stained Glass Studios was excited to design and fabricate the stained glass window behind its pulpit. When president Michael Laws met with Regent's founder and chancellor, Dr. M. G. "Pat" Robertson, Mr. Robertson expressed to him that he wanted a pictorial stained glass window that will awe you with beauty and color. Designer Vincent Ketchie produced the following watercolor sketch of the "Acension".
For this particular job, the contractor had already installed a window and frame that did not compliment the stained glass design. If stained glass was installed in front of the numerous mullions and muttons, then there would have been a dark shadow on the stained glass window resembling jail bars. The following is a picture of the previous window.
Laws Stained Glass Studios removed this existing window and frame. Laws installed a new white aluminum frame with a 1" tempered insulated glass unit on the outside as protective covering. The following is the resulting window (note that the interior plastering and woodwork was not completed when the picture was taken.)
Below are some close up pictures of Jesus and the disciples which were painted by artist Nina Haynes.
Everyone was well pleased with the windows.
