Opalescent Glass Windows in Longview, TX
Centre Presbyterian Church in Longview, TX had crank out steel window frames with amber colored glass since the sanctuary was built maybe sometime in the 1970s. These windows continually had to be kept up. The frames always needed painting, the glass needed reglazing with putty, and the glass was prone to cracking with the opening and closing of the windows. Below are some pictures of the old windows.
Laws Stained Glass Studios replaced the existing steel frames with new anodized aluminum frames. On the outside, 1/4" Lucite was used as the protective covering while the leaded opalescent glass window was installed on the inside. These opalescent glass windows had 12" round hand-painted biblical scenes of the life of Christ and a memorial plate inscription at the bottom. Below are some pictures of the new wndows.
The church was well pleased with their new windows for their sanctuary. Shortly afterwards, they ordered new opalescent glass windows for their fellowship hall as well.
