Opalescent Glass Windows at Wilderness Baptist Church in Vicksburg, Mississippi
In 2010, Laws Stained Glass Studios installed 13 opalescent glass windows at the Wilderness Baptist Church in Vicksburg, MS. Eight of the windows (32" wide x 64" high) contained 16" x 22" hand-stained glass medallions depicting scenes from the Life of Christ. Four small windows (24" x 24") did not contain artwork. Laws' work crew removed the existing aluminum frames and installed new dark bronze aluminum frames into the brick openings. On the outside, 1/4" Lucite acrylic is used as the protective covering.
In the baptistry area, Laws installed two windows, one with a cross and one with the "Baptism" scene. These windows are installed into an aluminum frame attached to a sliding track. During a baptism, the windows can be exchanged for the other.
