Stained Glass Windows at Chapel Hill Baptist Church in Jarratt, VA

In 2006, Laws Stained Glass Studios installed (8) opalescent glass windows at Chapel Hill Baptist Church in Jarratt, VA. The six main sanctuary windows (size 40" wide x 83" high with a gothic top) contained a 12" round hand-stained symbol and a memorial plate. The one large window (size 73" wide x 120" high with a gothic top) was made into a double lancet window with 12" round symbols and memorial plates on both sides and a cross at the top. The transom (size 48" wide x 44" high with a gothic top) received a scroll with the church name on it.

Laws Stained Glass Studios removed the existing wood sashes and covered over the existing wood frame with thick aluminum framing material (an adapter). The aluminum framing material is more expensive than flashing, but it can be bent to make a smooth covering at the top. On the exterior, Laws installed 1/4" Lucite acrylic as the protective covering. On top of this "adapter" material, Laws installed a new dark bronze aluminum frame. On the interior, the opalescent glass window is set and on the exterior 1/4" Lucite SAR (extra mar-resistant) acrylic is installed as the protective covering. The transom was installed into the existing wood frame without a new aluminum frame.
