Stained Glass Windows at Cottonville Baptist Church in Cottonville, NC

In 2013, Laws Stained Glass Studios installed (13) opalescent glass windows at Cottonville Baptist Church near Norwood, NC.  The seven main sanctuary windows (size 37" wide x 117" high) and a large transom (60" x 52") each contained a 18" x 26" hand-stained glass medallion with a scene from the "Life of Christ" series and a memorial plate.  Two smaller windows (size 28" wide x 55" high) each had a 12" x 16" medallion but no memorial plate.  Two other windows (28" x 54") had no artwork, but had memorial plates.  One transom (size 60" wide x 14" high) had a scroll with the church's name.
Laws Stained Glass Studios removed the existing wood sashes and installed the new opalescent glass windows into the existing wood frames.  On the exterior, Laws installed 1/4" Lucite acrylic as the protective covering.  It is floated in place with (2) rows of 1/2" x 1/2" white aluminum stop.
Another sanctuary window was installed later in 2013, but it did not have natural light.  Laws installed it into the existing frame and the church hired an electrician to back light it.

Light Box Window

After the other windows were installed, there remained this one window that did not receive the natural sunlight.  It had been closed up when an addition was made.  There was not much room for lighting it.  The church took the responsibility for lighting it.  They used rope LED lighting which did not illuminate as much as they maybe wanted.  (Since this installation, there have been advancements on LED lighting.  See our light box page for more details.)

The church provided LED rope lighting.
